Today, a family barbecue is scheduled. Should be less chaotic than last night. Even though there will be more people than last night, and I think I heard something about a boardgame... Anybody who knows my family knows that boardgames are a bad idea... Ever seen grown people yelling at eachother over a round of Trivial Pursuit? It's funny, and pathetic at the same time. Meagan knows how truly frightening it is to watch my family interact. And for that, I apologise. Sorry, Megs.
I was not deemed important enough to be woken up this morning to go to Anya's volleyball tourney... mixed blessing, because I got to sleep in until around 1 pm, when Sarah called (yay!). Glad to know everything is working out in the Far East.
It's cold, I'm tired (still... I know, 'jeez meghan, you slept how long and you're still tired? what's wrong with you?!'), and any minute now, relatives will be flying in the door, with groceries and directions about what needs to happen swirling around them in a tornado of hectic. Can't wait. Therefore, I am going to go take a nice, loooong shower, and try to not think about how long it's going to be until I see him again. Cheers!
I make myself sad sometimes... why?

Birthday Spectaculaire, day 1
Today began at 6.30 am, with a procession of half-asleep family people singing "Happy Birthday," pitifully off-key. Rapid-fire opening of carefully wrapped gifts ensued, along with a call from one altogether too cheery individual (although everyone here was impressed... mad points, yo). After that, I went to bed... crazy dreams, those.
Re-awoke at 11, showered, pulled on a pair of beat-up jeans and my old police academy t-shirt, thinking that by "getting ready for school," my mam meant getting ready AT HOME. No such luck. I was out roaming the town in said attractive outfit, purchasing everything anybody could ever want if they were to set out on their own to a completely unknown location. My apologies to anybody who saw me... but if you're that kid who walked up to me in the shampoo aisle, said "hey, how you doin? Meghan, right?" then walked away, WHO ARE YOU?!?!
When we got home again with much stuff, there was a message on the machine from the woman who machine-quilted my quilt... reader's digest version: the quilt is now here! It looks marvelous, I am muy muy happy with it, thank you Celeste. This quilt will be going to SOU with me, so all of you who will be there as well, don't worry, you will see this magical quilt.
Back to the Aging Queen.... at ~5.45, Anya got home, showered, and we all left for Shoji's, where the first half of Birthday Event #1 (or is it #2, technically? I'm lost) took place, complete with plastic tiaras and onion chunks flying everywhere. Once the food had been dished out and consumed, the group of rowdy 15-yr-olds (followed at a distance by Mam, Dad, and myself) descended upon the unsuspecting peoples of Pearl St. Ice Cream Parlour... it was sheer madness. Or at least it seemed that way... I hadn't gotten my nap, so it might've been pretty sedate, but it was still too much for me to process.
And now, here I sit, eyes glazing quickly from combination exhaustion and benadryl, saying... "oh, there's more, don't you worry." Cheers!

I thought about not posting until I actually had something worth typing about, but guess what? That would be never. So, here are some of the quality thoughts I had/am having today:
"Man, these kids are annoying... I think I may need to kick someone." (at Anya's volleyball game... I'd forgotten how annoying some people can be)
"I am so genius! I hope people agree!" (I made up a game on myspace because I got sick of surveys, and was feeling good)
"Alright, where are the scissors?!" (Anya's birthday is tomorrow, and I was doing some quality last-minute wrapping)
"Sweet lovin! This is perfect! Oh, and look at how it- nice!!!" (I found something good for a birthday that's coming up soon)
and with that, I think I will go do something else... and you'll never know what!
today was hard... i want a hug. wait- no, i NEED a hug.

yes... hmm.... today...
it was rather interesting. i got a wake-up call from McP, asking if i wanted to come over to her place to fill out the latest SOU forms. i told her i'd give her a call when i woke up (it was around 9.30 when she called, what did she expect?!). slept for another 2 hours, then Anya and Mam were making lots of noise yelling back and forth (Anya was on the computer right outside my door, Mam was in the kitchen, and they could've met somewhere in the middle and not yelled, but noooo, they had to be lazy and converse at 90 decibels... gah!). so, i gave up and crawled out of bed.
Drove Anya around for awhile, popping Tic Tacs like there was no tomorrow (2.5 packs in the span of about 4 hours.... hey, they taste better than throat slime :D), went over to McP's, went shopping for the Birthday Extravaganza Queen (see list item 1... i lobe you, awneea) and another individual whose birthday is coming up in a few weeks...
oh, before i go do something thrilling like sleep, i wanted to document a conversation i had earlier... it was classic:
setting: in Volvo. characters: Meghan, and little sister Anya.
Me: hey, guess what! only 110 more miles until this baby hits the big 150!
Anya: what?
Me: the 150,000-mile mark.
Anya: cool, it'll do that when i get it then!
Me: no, it's going to probably roll over in the next few days.
Anya: yeah, and my birthday is this friday, which is when i get it.
Me: noooo... you get the car when i leave town.
-end of scene-
Anya, darling, the car is mine until the 21st of September at 11.59 pm. I will teach you to drive it, but until that moment, it's mine. sorry, kiddo. well, not really. cheers!

Later...
yeah, today was a pretty good day, overall. I'll admit, up until about 3 pm it was sucking like a Hoover, but after 3.30-4ish, it was fine.
Ace- sorry about the v-ball game, but i'll be there on Thursday, no sweat.
and I actually prefer people don't leave comments on my blog, that way if they do read it, they can tell me in person... and if they don't comment, i can still pretend that nobody reads it, and therefore not censor myself (as much). cheers!

ps. to my trustworthy amigo: bus times, please!

yay! -hack, hack-
today is a day to be remembered. i, meghan, am no longer a nanny. that's right, goat-free.
i had my last time today at the kids' house... i'm going to miss those crazy little richies. well, probably not really, but that's the sort of thing i'm supposed to say, right?
on to better things... i've almost kicked this cold! and there's a 7:2 chance that i'll be even happier later today... if it pans, i'll probably mention it at some time... and if it doesn't, i'll never mention it again.
let's see, what else... hmm.... i want a cheese sarny. cheers
once again, he's on my mind... always there, like a shadow, only one that makes me smile

mmm.... the sweet sweet taste of sick
if that title didn't make your stomach turn, then congrats. you officially have known me too long.
Sickness, Day 3: the locals have made a point of avoiding eye contact, perhaps they think the slight head cold I have contracted can be spread by acknowledgement... the youngest of the local inhabitants is off participating in a strange game, made up of a round object being passed back and forth over a bit of woven string attached to two thin poles... the required attire is a bit odd, with tight garments worn around the pelvic region, and a drape-ish piece on the top half of the body, which this particular individual has chosen to tie back in a knot around the mid-section.
Indeed... ok, even though i got up at half past one, i'm going to go take a nap, and hopefully not look quite so paste-coloured as i do now.... i almost miss my freckles! maybe a nap outside... cheers!

urgh...
being sick sucks. i feel like crap... i probably look like crap... and to top it off, i've been playing phone tag with two people i really want to actually talk to, so fuck.
on a happier note, the wedding last night was fun. Jessica looked beautiful, Jose looked a wee bit lost but quite handsome, and the ringbearer was so cute it was insane! the reception was fun, i actually got up and danced for awhile (and managed to miss my phone ringing, bah), and my friend Erin taught me how to salsa... i may have to look into classes or something, it was really fun.
alright, i think i am going to go stand in the shower, and attempt to clean out my pipes. delicious, i know, but at the moment, i can't be held responsible for my actions (or typings), because i am under the influence of cold meds... cheers!
paul simon's "Something So Right" is playing in my head... except I only hear the part about the wall
